The Logic Bulldozer for Taking Action Against Global Warming

I found this Youtube post at http://treehugger.com. An arguement doesn't get much tighter than this one. Spread the word! The elections for president have begun. Are we going to let corporate short term greed run our government? Are we going to let some pharisee like Christian hypocrite who doesn't believe in evolution or global warming run our country? Or are we going to be courageous and sacrifice to save our country and our world?

Stephanie's Take on the Golden Compass Christian Uproar

I've read the books (all of them). And in the books God is depicted as
an angel that came in the beginning of creation. As the first angel he
tells all the other angels that he created them and that is essentially
how religion comes to be. It is not the children of the book that kill
this angel either . . . it stems from another angel trying trying to
take over the God-angel's place.

Chad's take on the Golden Compass Christian Uproar

I'm not sure its quite as simplistic as many of the more conservative
Christians have explained it, but I certainly wouldn't consider this a
young children's movie. I didn't think "The Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe" was an appropriate movie for children younger than 10-12
years old either.

I don't find it blasphemous (but I'm rather lenient when it comes to
that kind of stuff), because in fact, "God" in the fictional world of
these books is not really God at all and a pretender and a fake in

11th Annual Toys for Tots!

Toys for Tots 2007

Just bring a new unwrapped toy to the party and you drink and eat
for free all night. Also, if you come during the Family Fun part you
will see me and my wife dressed up as Mr and Mrs Claus.

This is the 11th year my friends and I have put this event on. It
gets bigger and better every year. Last year we were able to donate
$35,000 worth of toys to the U.S. Marine's Toys for Tots Program. And
we had a really really really fun time doing it.

Shane's Summer Pictures & Fun

I was looking at our site and realized the last time that I had posted any pictures of the cutest boy in the world was around our memorial day trip to NM. So I decided that it was high time I get my act together and put some other pictures here and give you all a little update on Shane's exciting little life. We spent a lot of the summer hanging out with friends and family and were able to swim and watch grandpa Steve fly a piper cub. Maybe when Shane's older grandpa will have his own plane to fly Shane in. We also went to visit our friends in VA. Shane got help mama and dadda's god daughter Gwyn learn all about doggies since Riddick and Odin came with. At the beginning of the visit Shane was baby Shane but by the end of the week he was Gwynie's Baby Shane. We also went to the forty over labor day weekend where Shane learned about his birth right to being a mudpie, as passed on from mamma. Or in Shane's case he was a sandpie. August also brought and interesting situation for our family as with some of the most powerful storms came through our area accompanied by a 3 and half day long black out and our sump pump back up battery dying out. That was when Chad and Grandpa Steve went on the great generator hut of 2007. We would not have a generator if it weren't for Christy, a wonderful friend that drove to the Sycamore Fart and Fleem to get in line for them and keep the peace between a frenzied crowd that was gathering. In the fall Shane really enjoyed seeing the butterflies at Brookfield Zoo, going to the Pumpkin farm with mama and Gammy Meggy and he was a Cowboy for Halloween (still need to scan those pictures . . . you'll see them soon). All in all it has been an exciting couple of months. Here are a few developmental highlights:

Eco Friendly Diapers

I've spent the fist 7 months of my son Shane's life not thinking about how much damage I'm doing to the environment with his diapers. I consider myself a pretty savy person. I knew about the environmental issues surrounding diapers (they don't decompose for centuries). But, in my mind, they were so much easier and cheaper than clothe diapers.

I'll be honest here. I have "poo" issues. Especially indoors. Without some good moving air and ventilation, I don't do well at all with smells. I remember the smell of the dirty clothe diapers that my Mom used  with myself and my sister. It was not a happy thing for someone with a highly sensitive nose and a bit of a gag reflex.

Four Top Teeth

Shane's got four top teeth!  Can you believe it?  The two eye teeth on either side of the top front broke through today.  I haven't actually had a chance to get a good picture of them because of the way that he he is constantly crawling around and popping his head up over the coffee table in the living room.  He's getting a lot better about standing up and pulling himself up.  He makes loops around the the coffee table as well.  He is pretty much zooming around these days and walking around while holding on to things like the couches tables or his toys.  Some times those toys aren't as sturdy as the couch though and they tumble down on top of him.  It's a pretty loud crash but Shane recovers quickly.

Breastfeeding in Public - Bill Mahr

I was reading this response to Bill Mahr's segment on breast feeding from his show on HBO. It all got started by an Applebee's manager asking a women to cover herself up a bit more while nursing in his establishment. I think Bill's main issue was not the breast feeding in public. It was the fact that people were demonstrating and protesting over this. I can see his point on that issue. This woman and her family were not asked to leave. They were not told to stop, nor was she degraded or told that breast feeding is wrong. She was just asked to cover up a bit more.

How do we allow ignorance like this on TV?

Sherri is soooooo scary! Evolution isn't real and the world is flat! Er what?

I know its a free country. People should be able to speak their minds... or the lack there of. But being a free country means that we have to have an educated populace. In the last 6 years we have seen our freedoms eroded and the same people that eroded them re-elected. We have stupified our children into believing absolutely anything, and deluding them into thinking they are talented and brilliant. When in reality it is something quite different.
