So here is a mini review of GenCon 2010. 2 notes: This was my first Con and I have played D&D for almost 2 years (my anniversary is coming up in October!) Basically, it was AWESOME! Why? We were exhausted everyday. So we know we were getting as much out of it as we could and by the last day my mom, Grammie -- who we brought along as our childcare and extra set of hands for babies/Shane -- asked, "Are we going to do this every year?" And she asked this with a bright smile on her face, even though her knees were killing her and she was ready for a nap at 11am.
Dr. Rotwang!'s Daughter's First D&DGame This is a great article of how one dad introduced D&D to his daughter of only 5.5 years. I read Lily/Barbie's encounter to Shane as we were driving home from our vacation. He loved it and thanked me for reading him such a great story. So let's break this down and I'll have the Lord's and guests roll me and assist or two for some of the complicated things I have no idea about. Intention: This D&D dada waited for his daughter to ask to play! I gotta say, I don't know if can do it. Based on this very simple yet integrity filled example of D&D gameplay, I am totally itching to test my DMing skills on my 3.5 year old.

After the first round of Star Wars sneakers, Adidas is now digging some more into the franchise with even more flare. I give you the C-3PO and R2-D2 combo sneaker, part of the fall-winter collection. Please notice the detail with the C-3PO wiring running between the stripes. Given that I definitely could not justify dropping [...]
Some thoughts on D&D Essentials - Since the D&D Essentials line was announced, there has been a lot of speculation that it is meant as a stealth edition. In fact, Bill Slavicsek took the time in his most recent Ampersand column to debunk this concept. He specifically notes that the Essentials products will be fully compatible with the rest of the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. and that The rules of the game are the same as those featured in the Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide. The presentation is new, rewritten for clarity and friendliness.

It took a real Wonder Woman fan to improve on the official version. What do you think?
I was so delighted to meet GamerChick, Sarah Moore, and her husband Jeff & family on the LOT podcast recently. The sheer presence of another woman and mother, let's not forget working mother, gamer and writer, gamer, actor, producer, etc, did I mention gamer? Was encouraging and inspiring. So here is the fruit of that inspiration, thank you to the Moores . . . all of them!
